 Virginia Liles Yates, 88, formerly of Wilmington, NC and Pittsburgh, PA, died on February 24, 2010 at Upstate Medical University in Syracuse, NY.
Born May 6, 1921, in Badin, NC, she was the only child of Brooks S. and Sallie W. Liles. She was predeceased by her husband, Joseph E. Yates, in 1982, and a daughter, Sallie Brooks Yates, in 1954. She is survived by her daughter, Mary Yates, and son-in-law, John Barr, of Manlius, NY.
An ALCOA spouse, she traveled widely during her married life and lived at various times in New Jersey, Tennessee, Washington State, Texas, Pennsylvania, and South America. She returned to North Carolina in 1981, and in early 2010 moved to Upstate New York to be with her daughter and son-in-law. She loved movies, dogs, tango music, cookbooks, and all thing French.
