Rosemary (Burke) Swinney Welsch, 84, passed away Tuesday at St. Joseph’s Health Center in Syracuse, NY.

Rosemary was born in Lohrville, Iowa to Josephine (Fitzpatrick) and James V. Burke, Sr. on January 6, 1926. She lived in Liverpool and retired in 1995 from Syracuse University Library.

Rosemary is pre-deceased by first husband, Robert D. Swinney; daughter, Colleen Swinney; sisters, Cece ( Herb) Kersten, Vicki (Ken) Rudy; brothers, Jim (Cleo) Burke, Steve Burke and Bill Burke.

Rosemary was survived by her husband, Walter Welsch of Williamsville, NY. Her daughters, Karen Barnum of Liverpool, NY and Victorine and husband Dr. Robert Latimer, Jr. of Manassas, VA; grandchildren, Kelly (Todd) Garrity, Christopher Barnum, Elizabeth (Luis) Santos, Matthew Ostopowicz, Courtney (Jesse) Colan, Robert Latimer III, Jonathan Barnum, Linden Latimer and Burke Latimer; great-grandchildren, Meghan Garrity, Matthew Ostopowicz, Jr., Daniel Garrity, Damien Colan and Isabella Colan.

Rosemary is also survived by stepchildren, Terrance (Christine) Welsch, Kathleen (Craig) Locke, Virginia (Steve) Wiltberger, Louise (Andrew) Mac Vie and Beverly (Daniel) Britzzalaro.

Calling hours will be Thursday, March 4, 2010 from 4-7pm at Maurer Funeral Home Moyers Corners, 3541 Route 31, Baldwinsville, NY 13027.

Rosemary’s funeral mass will be 10am, Friday, March 5, 2010 in Christ the King Catholic Church, 21 Cherry Tree Circle, Liverpool, NY 13090.

Contributions may be made to Christ the King Church.
