 Francis “Gart” J. Gartland Jr., age 83, passed away Saturday at St. Camillus Health and Rehabilitation Center.
Born in Bayonne NJ, Mr. Gartland resided in Liverpool most of his life and was a WWII Army Veteran. Francis retired as a custodian for many years with the Liverpool Central School District. Previously, he was employed with the Carrier Corporation for 15 years. Mr. Gartland was a member of the American Legion Post #188 as well as an avid bowler in many area leagues. He is predeceased by his parents, Francis and Evelyn (Rickert) Gartland.
Surviving are 2 Sons, Glenn M. (Judy) Gartland of Cincinnati, OH, Gary M. (Michele) Gartland of Central Square; 2 Daughters, Gail M. (John) Loucks of Liverpool, Ginnine M. (Brian) Carlson of Virginia Beach, VA; a Sister, Jean Preston of Charlotte, NC; 4 Grandchildren, Alicia, Tanner & Amy Gartland and Kyle Carlson; a niece & 2 nephews, Lisa & Timothy Preston and Michael Preston.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:00AM Wednesday, March 10, 2010 at the Maurer Funeral Home. Calling hours are from 4-7PM, Tuesday at the funeral home, 300 Second Street, Liverpool. Contributions may be made to the Liverpool Fire Department.
