I worked with David for many years at Empire/Wellpoint and he will be missed so much.David was the nicest and kindest person anyone would ever want to know. I will surely miss him and my prayers go out to his children. David is now playing in heaven where he is smiling down on everyone who cared about him.

I was saddened to see the passing of Dave. Although I hadn't been in town for some years, and usually don't socially network much, memory flashed back to Liverpool HS music jazz bands and programs, where Dave was a year ahead of me. Not only was he a good musician, he had a wry sense of humor, and I can see he was an all around nice guy.

I've worked with David for the past 19 years and have sat side by side of him at work for the past 10 years? and I keep expecting to see him raise his head over the partition and say "What's up" or something like that. It's gonna take me a while to remember that I will not see his smiling face anymore. He will greatly missed. RIP my friend.

Dear David, Michael, and Patty: Our hearts and thoughts are with you all this week--we were so shocked and sorry to hear about Dave's passing. He was such a one-of-a-kind guy...funny, kind-hearted, talented, full of mischief!,...I could go on and on. I can still see the twinkle in his eye and hear his laugh! Dave will be sorely missed by anyone who knew him. We'll never forget him. Our love to you, Jim, Tam, and Mia

To the Gates family; Hard to believe I've known Dave for 25 years and even harder to know he's gone. When we weren't playing together in the same band(James Duke Band, Code West, etc.)our paths often crossed late at night, post gig, at a convenience store or diner. I'm just one of many who loved and respected Dave as a sweetheart of a guy and a talented musician. He will be missed. My heartfelt condolences to your entire family. Paul Kolo

David will be missed for many things. His sense of humor was what I will miss most. He and I both had bad legs and would sometimes walk with a cane at work. He would joke with me saying "Wanna race?" We would laugh and just give the other support for our health issues. Rest easy, David, I hope you are at peace.
