Joseph O. Roscoe, 89, formerly of Liverpool, passed away on Tuesday at the Buffalo VA Hospital.
A lifelong resident of Liverpool until February of this year, Mr. Roscoe graduated from Liverpool High School and served in the Army Air Force during WWII. He was a member of the 80th Fighter Group, the famed “Burma Banshees”, in the China-Burma-India Theater, where he received four bronze stars.
Joe was employed as a maintenance supervisor by ARCO in Syracuse for 38 years retiring in 1984. He was an avid hunter and fisherman.
Joe was predeceased by a brother, Stanley, and two sisters, Lottie Toomey and Jan Batten.
Joseph is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Norma (Mayhew) of Getzville, NY; his daughter, Cheryl (Robert) Carr of E. Amherst, NY; one granddaughter, Jule; sister, Helen Kyanka of Liverpool, NY.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, July 24, 2010 at 10:30am in the Maurer Funeral Home Inc., 300 Second St., Liverpool. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery. Calling hours will be held on Saturday from 9 to 10:30am prior to the service.
Contributions in Joe’s memory can be made to Bristol Village, 8455 Clarence Center Rd., Clarence Center, NY 14032. Bristol Village is a not-for-profit senior community for assisted living where he resided since March.
