May 2, 1955 – November 20, 2024
Amy W. Thackston, 69, of Liverpool, NY passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday at Loretto Health and Rehabilitation Center. Born in Black River, NY, Amy graduated from Carthage High School. She continued her studies obtaining her Bachelor's degree from SUNY Brockport. On August 23, 1980 she was united in marriage to Gary A. Thackston, a blessed union of 44 years. In 1981, they came to the Syracuse area and have since resided in Liverpool. Amy worked as a Therapy Assistant for the Central NY Developmental Disabilities Services in Syracuse. She was an active member of St. Matthews Episcopal Church in Liverpool. Amy was an avid reader, enjoyed needlework and loved to travel. She liked the outdoors, going camping and kayaking. She is predeceased by her parents, Charles and Nancy (Denny) Wilton.
Surviving to cherish her memory are her husband, Gary A. Thackston of Liverpool, NY, two sons, Gregory (Emily) Thackston of Camillus, NY and Matthew (Justin Palmer) Thackston of Washington, DC, two granddaughters, Gabrielle and Isabelle Thackston of Camillus, NY, two brothers, Charles (Cindy) Wilton of Syracuse, NY and Richard Wilton of Florida, several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be held on Friday, November 29, 2024 from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm at the Maurer Funeral Home, Inc. 300 Second St. Liverpool, NY 13088. Funeral Services will be on Saturday, November 30, 2024 at 11:00 am in St. Matthew's Episcopal Church, 904 Vine St. Liverpool, NY 13088. Burial will follow in Riverview Cemetery, Baldwinsville, NY.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Alzheimer's Association, CNY Chapter, 5015 Campuswood Drive, Suite 102, East Syracuse, NY 13057.
