Ann K. (Tom) McDonell, 79, of Liverpool, NY passed away on Wednesday at Crouse Hospital, with her family at her side. Born and raised in Syracuse, NY, Ann graduated from Nottingham High School, Class of 1961. On April 18, 1964, she was united in marriage to James J. McDonell, a blessed union of 59 years. Together, they lived in the Syracuse area and started their family. While raising her children, Ann furthered her education at Maria Regina receiving her Associate's degree. She then continued her studies earning her Bachelor's degree at Cortland State University and her Master's degree in Education at Lemoyne College. For over 15 years, Ann was employed as a teacher for the Syracuse City School District. Ann had resided in Liverpool since 2013.
She enjoyed spending time painting and gardening. She was a member of NYSUT, Saint Andrew's Society of NY and Friends of Beaver Lake. Ann was a parishioner of Christ the King Church in Bayberry. She is predeceased by her parents, James and Mary (Klisz) Tom and her brother, James Tom.
Surviving is her husband, James J. McDonell of Liverpool, NY, her son, Matthew (Holly) McDonell of Cincinnati, OH, two daughters, Heather-Ann (Brian) Dristle of Skaneateles Falls, NY and Deborah (Scott) Ireton of Liverpool, NY, 10 grandchildren; Evan, Timmy, Alexis, Johnny, Mary-Elizabeth, Theresa, Sean, Andrew, Katie and William, her brother, John (Judy) Tom of Lowell, ME, many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Calling hours will be held on Friday, February 3, 2023 from 4:00 to 6:00 pm at the Maurer Funeral Home, Inc. 300 Second St. Liverpool, NY 13088. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Saturday, February 4, 2023 at 9:30 am in Christ the King Church, 21 Cherry Tree Drive Liverpool, NY 13090. The Rite of Committal and burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, DeWitt.
