Bertha M. McDonough, 90, of Baldwinsville, NY passed away at home on Monday, with her loving children at her side.  Bertha was born to Ralph and Irma (Isbell) Cornwell on May 29, 1931, and raised on the family farm in Marcellus, NY.

She attended SUNY Oswego, graduating with a degree in Education. There she met her husband, John. She worked as a teacher while building their family together, until caring for 7 children became her full-time job. After raising her children, she opened an Irish gift shop (A Bit of Erin) in downtown Syracuse for several years, before retiring to travel with John extensively (19 countries, and 30 states!). Bertha was an avid reader of magazines and newspapers, a crossword puzzle sleuth, and she treasured time spent with family and friends. She will be missed dearly by all whose lives she has touched over the years.  She was predeceased by her husband John in 2015, and her son Michael in 2007.

She is survived by her children, John (Dianna), Kevin (Suzy), Anne (Pete) Gavin, Catherine (Paul) Arvantides, Eileen McDonough (Dave) and Brendan (Martha); brother Ed, sisters, Jane and Lydia, seven beautiful grandchildren, and three loving great-grandchildren.

Services were held privately.
