Betsey Martha Magari, nee Winslow, beloved mother, dedicated daughter, wearied nurse, brilliant business owner, avid philatelist and eternal pragmatist passed away on September 13.  Her singular unwavering mission in life was to love and challenge her four children. She was clever and kind to a fault.  She opened her home to all and fostered single mothers and their babies throughout the 60's and 70's.  As an original enrollee, she diligently participated for over 45 years in the Harvard Nurse's Health Study.  For better or worse, she always said it like it was and never let her children win at Scrabble.  Her children will never toss out good elastic with use left in it, shop without coupons or go upstairs empty handed.

She is survived by her four children; Patrick (Elaine Silverman) Magari, Denise (Randy) Hubler, Sean (Sue) Magari and Shannon (Tod Leggat) Magari; her eight grandchildren; Caitlin, Savannah, Graham, Craig, Emily, Cameron, Nathan and Audrey.

Calling hours will be held on Friday, September 16, 2022 from 4:00 pm – 6:00 pm at the Maurer Funeral Home, Inc. 300 Second Street, Liverpool, NY 13088.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be sent to the Upstate Cancer Foundation Funding Priorities - Upstate Cancer Center (upstatefoundation.org) .
