Brad E Magro, 68, of Cranberry Township PA, died peacefully on Wednesday, June 19, 2024 at his home surrounded by his loving family. Born in Fairmont, West Virginia, Brad made his mark in the world with a passion for learning, unwavering optimism, and dedication to his family. Brad graduated from Morgantown High School, went on to earn his Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering and his Juris Doctorate Degree from West Virginia University, and his Master of Business Administration from Syracuse University.
Brad worked at General Electric Company/Lockheed Martin in Syracuse, NY and King of Prussia, PA for thirty-five years. He experienced his greatest professional excitement and joy while working in Naval Electronics and Sensor Systems as the Program Manager for the Seawolf class submarine combat system and Electronic Warfare Programs. Before his retirement, Brad moved to the Pittsburgh, PA area where he worked as a Global Director of Program Management for JOY Global and at PNC Financial Services as a Vice-President of Project Portfolio Management in the IT department.
Brad was a fun-loving man who found the positive in everything and enjoyed life. He loved to read, travel, follow college sports and cheer for his beloved WVU Mountaineers and all Pittsburgh professional teams. Above all else, Brad loved his family and being a volunteer in his sons' activities. He was a Cub Scout leader in Marcellus, NY and Lancaster, PA and a merit badge counselor and Assistant Scout Master for Troop 99 of Lancaster, PA. He coached his sons' baseball, football, soccer, and basketball teams, learned to be a Quarter Midget crew chief, and kept time at swim competitions. Brad was also a First grade Catechist at St. Joseph's Church on the Hill in Camillus, NY and a member of the Knights of Columbus in Cranberry Township, PA. Brad also enjoyed ballroom dancing with his wife. His tall stature made him a wonderful waltz partner.
Brad is predeceased by his parents, James and Mary Lucille "Lou" Magro, his parents-in-law, John and Esther Solazzo, his sister-in-law, Janice (Solazzo) Botsford and brother-in-law, Robert Solazzo.
Brad is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 36 years, Anne, three sons; Joseph (Marie) of Longmont, CO, Victor of Cranberry Twp, PA and Andrew of Sagamore Hills, OH, his toddler grandson, Elliot Bradley of Longmont, CO, his brother, Jim (Terry) Magro of Amelia Island, FL and his sister, Janice Magro of Rock Hill, SC, eight sisters-in-law and five brothers-in-law; 22 nieces and nephews.
To celebrate Brad's life, relatives and friends are invited to calling hours on Sunday, June 23, 2024 from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the Maurer Funeral Home Moyers Corners, 3541 State Route 31, Baldwinsville, NY 13027. A prayer service will be held on Monday, June 24, 2024 at 9:00 am at the funeral home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10:00 am in Pope John the XXIII Roman Catholic Church, 8290 Soule Road, Liverpool, NY 13090. The Rite of Committal and burial will be in Our Lady of Peace Cemetery, Baldwinsville, NY
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Lungevity.org . or Lung.org . It is there where Brad's hope of research to find lung cancer early in non-smokers and to treat it more effectively can be realized, and where all lung cancer survivors can learn the most up to date information and treatments for lung cancer.
