Carol Anne
Husenitza
January 14, 1950 – April 17, 2024
Carol Anne (Nordheim) Husenitza of Dublin, Ohio and formerly of Liverpool, New York, passed away peacefully on April 17, 2024 surrounded by her family. Carol's greatest love was for Peter, her loyal husband of 53 years and her children and grandchildren.
Born on January 14, 1950 in Syracuse, New York, to Kenneth and Shirley Nordheim. She grew up in Liverpool and attended Liverpool High School. In the summer of 1968, Carol caught Peter's eye while seniors at Liverpool High School. Ever the charismatic character, he was in the midst of showing off at Danzer's, a local German restaurant in Syracuse, and finally got the courage to talk to the stunning brown-eyed beauty surrounded by friends. He quickly won her heart and after dating for three years, they were married in the summer of 1971. Peter and Carol had a perfect partnership. They were inseparable, sharing a love story that spanned nearly six decades. Carol was a loyal wife, nurturing mother, dedicated daughter and doting grandmother.
Throughout her life, Carol pursued a variety of creative careers including trusted babysitter, teacher aide, photographer, and visual merchandising specialist, but her most cherished pursuit by far was that of devoted wife, mother and homemaker. Always the mama bird, Carol created a warm, loving and vibrant household, infusing her quick wit and adventuresome spirit into each and every day. From redecorating rooms weekly to engineering a pond in the backyard, you never knew what to expect from a day with Carol. She created the most wonderful childhood memories, filled with fun and laughter and woven with meaningful and treasured traditions. She thoroughly loved and cared about her family and was always there for support, a shoulder to cry on or some sage advice, usually followed with a text, letter or book for extra help and TLC. Carol was a positive pillar of strength, who never complained, often using the phrase "whether or not" to get through tough times.
Additionally, Carol had a passion for politics and was a proud member of the Daughters of the American Revolution. She loved to travel with her family to places across the U.S. such as Williamsburg, Washington, D.C., Boston, Niagara Falls, various state fairs, Florida and unforgettable trips out West. She also felt at one with nature and looked forward to taking walks with her family and her trusty friends throughout the years including, Buster, Lucy, Honey, Luckie and Timmy. Carol enjoyed her time at home just as much, and you could often find her curled on the couch, watching an old black-and-white, chatting with her dear mom or children on the phone or waltzing in the kitchen with Peter listening to their favorite Beatles tunes. Carol was a beautiful woman: determined, intelligent, generous, selfless, loving and faithful. She will be deeply missed and forever in the hearts of all who knew and loved her. She is predeceased by her father, Kenneth Nordheim, Sr. and her brother, Kenneth Nordheim, Jr.
Carol is survived by her beloved husband, Peter, and her children, Chris Husenitza and his wife, Jennifer; Amy and her husband, Kevin Droner; Laura and her husband, Matthew Atkin and her adored grandchildren; Audrey and Erin Husenitza; Emma, Elizabeth, Paige and Abby Droner and Molly, Cameron, Joey and Alex Atkin.
