Carol Ann
Roshia
November 11, 1937 – July 28, 2025
Carol Ann (Lougheed) Roshia, 87, of Liverpool, NY, passed away on Monday, July 28, 2025. She was born in Syracuse to William Lester and Ruth Marie (Barsuch) Lougheed. Carol grew up on the Northside neighborhood of Syracuse and attended Nottingham High School. She graduated from SUNY Oswego in 1959 with a Bachelor of Education and earned her master's degree in education from Syracuse University in 1963.
On August 1, 1964, Carol married the love of her life, John "Jack" V. Roshia. She taught elementary school in the Cazenovia and Syracuse City School Districts until the birth of their daughter, Jacqueline, after which she happily became a stay-at-home mom. Later, she worked as a substitute teacher and wrote training programs for Niagara Mohawk. Carol was also a longtime member of Savvy Speakers Toastmasters of Syracuse.
Carol had a quirky sense of humor and loved to laugh. She cherished time with family and friends and was endlessly curious, always eager to learn. She especially loved history and passed that passion on to her daughter, who has worked in museums for more than 30 years. Her hobbies included writing, knitting, sewing, making beaded jewelry, and reading. She crafted beautiful clothing for herself and her daughter, as well as many memorable Halloween costumes. Carol and Jack loved spending time in the Adirondacks and owned a camp in the Old Forge area for many years. Carol was predeceased by her husband, John "Jack" V. Roshia.
She is survived by her daughter, Jacqueline A. Roshia of Fayetteville, NY.
