Carolyn Fern Cross, from Clay, NY, passed away quietly on February 11, 2024.
Fern was born on March 5, 1928 to Lena and John Kelpic, and is predeceased by her parents and brothers, John Jr. and William.  After growing up in small town New Brighton, just north of Pittsburgh, PA, Fern's fearless and adventurous spirit led her to New York City where she worked for Eastern Airlines. Living in Manhattan, she met her husband and began her family.  After moving to the Syracuse area, she became active in her community as a volunteer for the American Diabetes Association, President of the PTA of Craven Crawford Elementary, and a member of the Corinthian Club.  She was an avid skier and enjoyed playing Bunco with her Bayberry neighbors and the occasional golf and tennis outing.

Confident, elegant, and outgoing, Fern made an impression and made friends everywhere she went both in Central New York and Corolla, North Carolina. In recent years, she most enjoyed spending quality time with her family at their beach house on the Outer Banks.   Her passing is a loss that will resonate to the many people that had the pleasure of encountering her, and she will be dearly missed by her loving family.

Carolyn leaves behind her devoted husband of 62 years, Richard V. Cross, her son, Richard G. Cross (Ellen, Nate, and Jack), her daughter, Pamela Hricz (Kenneth), and her cherished grandsons; Nicholas, Nathaniel, and Zachary Hricz.

Calling hours will be held on Friday, February 16, 2024 from 4:30 pm to 6:30 pm at Maurer Funeral Home Moyers Corners, 3541 State Rt 31, Baldwinsville, NY 13027 with a funeral service to follow at 6:30 pm.
