Cecile M.
Harnois
June 6, 1945 – March 28, 2025
Cecile Harnois, age 79, passed away at her home in Liverpool on March 28, 2025.
Cecile Harnois was born in Central Falls, RI, the fourth of five children. She attended St. Mathew Elementary School along with her four brothers, and later attended Notre Dame High School. During her career she held various positions in manufacturing, retail, and food and beverage organizations. She married Albert Harnois in 1965, and they relocated to Cumberland, RI, where they lived until 2001, when they moved to the Syracuse area to be near family members.
Cecile was a devoted wife and mother who loved to sew, crochet, knit, quilt, and do needle point. She donated a countless number of her beautifully crafted items to family members, friends and charitable organizations including Operation Gratitude (serving deployed military and first responders), Threads of Love, The Samaritan Center, The Syracuse Rescue Mission and The Baby Bundle Program of The Army Community Service of Fort Drum, NY.
She was affectionately known to her granddaughter as "Mem," a short version of the French word for grandmother (Memere). And, as her granddaughter Erin liked to say when she needed any item of clothing or any accessory repaired, "Mem can fix anything."
She was the wife of Albert Harnois and the daughter of the late Armand and Yvonne (Mercier) Corneau. Besides her husband of 60 years she leaves two daughters, Charlotte Mordaunt (Daniel) of Baldwinsville, NY, and Lynn Harnois of Liverpool, NY, and one granddaughter, Erin Mordaunt.
Cecile is also survived by three brothers; Roger Corneau (Cecile) of Gatineau, Canada; Gerald Corneau (Yvette) of Putnam, CT and Alfred Corneau (Janet) of Smyrna, DE, two step-grandsons, two step-great grandchildren, numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her brother, Robert Corneau (Ellie).
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Cecile's name should be made to "Operation Gratitude" (www.operationgratitude.com) at 15748 Dearborn St., Chatsworth, CA 91311.
Please sign the Maurer Funeral Home on-line guest book for Cecile to express your condolences to her family.
