Obituary

It is with great sadness to announce that Saturday, January 7, 2023, the world lost a great man. Charles G. "Chuck" Fichter, 60, of Liverpool passed away at Crouse hospital with his loving family by his side after a strong and brave battle. He was a true fighter who fought until the very end and has now been restored and made whole.

Chuck was born June 3, 1962 to Charles W. and Beatrice (Letson) Fichter in Syracuse, NY. At the wish of his parents' to remain in his childhood home, he lived with his sister Debra and her husband, Carl who were his caretakers for the 16 years after the death of their parents. Charles attended ARC for many years and was a Communicant of Christ the King Church. Despite his disabilities and many obstacles he faced through life, he was always a happy guy. His beautiful smile and baby blue eyes would tug at the heartstrings of all that knew him. Many things brought him great joy, especially when company came to visit and when he went on car rides. He loved playing with his magna doodle, jar of many kinds of keys, sunglasses and helium balloons. He was best known for being the best paper shredder ever, he could sit for hours shredding pages of anything he could find. If you needed something shredded, Chuck was your guy.

He is predeceased by his parents, Charles and Beatrice Fichter and his brother, Kevin Fichter.
There will be an empty place in the hearts of all that knew and loved him that can never be filled. Surviving to cherish Chuck's memory are his sisters, Karen Smith of North Syracuse, NY and Debra (Carl) Richardson of Liverpool, NY; his brother, Thomas Fichter of Baldwinsville, NY; his sister-in-law, Nancy Fichter of Elbridge and many nieces and nephews.

A calling hour will be held on Monday, January 16, 2023 from 10:00am to 11:00am in Christ the King Church, 21 Cherry Tree Circle with a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 11:00am. The Rite of Committal and entombment will follow in Our Lady of Peace Cemetery Mausoleum, Baldwinsville, NY.
