Charles Eddy

Charles Eddy Stanford, 97, formerly of Liverpool, NY and Fayetteville, NY, passed away Tuesday at the Nottingham RHFC in Jamesville, NY. He was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on July 26, 1928, the son of the late Joseph and Dorcas (Irish) Stanford.
Charles attended the University of Wisconsin, receiving his Bachelor's degree in Engineering. After graduating, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy, proudly serving his country and was awarded the WW II Victory Medal.
He worked for General Electric and was stationed in the Aleutian Islands and in Turkey. He was transferred to Syracuse in 1968 where he worked until his retirement. Charles devoted his life to serving the U.S. both in the Navy and while at GE, stationed to monitor the Soviet Union out of the Aleutian Islands.
Charles was very content person. He enjoyed traveling and loved nature and hiking. As he grew older he read a lot of history books and was very involved in genealogy. In addition to his parents, Charles is predeceased by his cousins, Cynthia Hockins and Merle Jastrow.
He is survived by his cousins, Diana Carter and Ralph O. Irish III of Michigan. Charles also leaves behind his long-time friend Philip Latessa who cared for him at home and later at the nursing home.
Military Honors and burial will take place in Onondaga County Veterans Memorial Cemetery at a future time and date to be announced.
