Obituary

Christa Foster, 81, of Liverpool and Fisher’s Landing, New York, passed away on June 14, 2026.

A beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, Christa was the heart of her family and a source of love, kindness, and strength to everyone who knew her.

Born on August 4, 1944, in Schönmünzach, Germany, to Gertrud and Wilhelm Müller, Christa spent her childhood in the idyllic hills of the Black Forest alongside her four sisters, Helga, Ursula (deceased), Marianne, and Gertrud. At the young age of 18 she bravely embarked on a journey to the United States to live with extended family in the Syracuse area. What she expected to be a brief stay became a lifetime, as she built a beautiful and meaningful life filled with love, friendship, family, and community.

Christa had a gift for making people feel welcomed, cared for, and valued. She possessed a rare generosity of spirit and was always ready to lend a helping hand, offer a listening ear, or provide comfort to a friend, neighbor, or loved one in need. Her warmth, compassion, and unwavering devotion to others touched countless lives and left a lasting impression on all who were fortunate enough to know her.

She is survived by her devoted husband, Scott Foster; her beloved daughter, Birgit (Robert) Bryant; her stepchildren, Guy (Carrie) Foster, Mark (Meadow) Foster, and Becky Fisher; eleven cherished grandchildren; four treasured great-grandchildren; three loving sisters; and many nieces and nephews who will miss her dearly. The love she shared with her family was the defining joy of her life, and her presence will be deeply missed at every gathering, celebration, and quiet moment in between.

For more than 25 years, Christa worked as an administrative assistant in the School of Education at Syracuse University, a position she truly enjoyed. She took pride in her work and formed many lasting friendships throughout her career. Following her retirement, she devoted herself to the people and pursuits she loved most: spending time with family and friends, caring for her beloved dogs, savoring quiet moments gazing upon the St. Lawrence River, playing tennis, singing in her church choir, attending ski and bike trips with the Onondaga Ski Club, and tending the beautiful gardens that flourished under her patient and loving care.

In her later years, Christa found comfort, companionship, and spiritual nourishment through her Bible study group and the friendships she developed with her neighbors, tennis friends, and members of her church community. Wherever she went, she created connections that enriched the lives of those around her.

Christa’s life was a testament to quiet grace, selfless love, and enduring kindness. She leaves behind a legacy of generosity, resilience, and unconditional love that will continue to inspire her family and friends for generations to come. Though our hearts are broken by her loss, we are profoundly grateful for the gift of having known and loved her. She will be remembered always, especially when we look upon her beautiful gardens, and missed beyond measure.

Celebration of life will be held on Saturday, June 20, 2026, at 11:00 am at the United Church of Christ Bayberry, 215 Blackberry Rd., Liverpool, NY. Reception to follow.
