Clare M.
Woods
November 16, 1938 – December 23, 2021
Clare M. (Jones) Woods passed unexpectedly at her home in Liverpool on December 23, 2021. She was born in Scranton, PA, daughter of the late Anna D. Soble and John P. Jones. She was a proud member of the first graduating class of the newly-formed West Genesee High School and a retiree of Onbank, going on to work for Aetna and The Hartford afterwards. She was preceded in death by her dearly beloved and sorely missed husband of 60 years, Richard L. Woods, in 2016. She and Dick were members of the MG Car Club of CNY, and their retirement years were filled with road trips and jaunts through the countryside in their little red car, always with a stop for an ice cream. They enjoyed winter escapes to Cape San Blas, FL, trading the snow for snow-white beaches and making life-long friends there. Clare enjoyed time spent with her neighbors and friends and always looked forward to monthly lunches and dinners with them. Her fondest role was that of Mom and Grandma. She is predeceased by her cherished siblings, Nancy Bello and Jack Gammon.
She leaves behind her children: Jean and Bruce Butensky, Richard and Roberta Woods, and Thomas and Elizabeth Woods; her grandchildren: Joshua (Alana Hawkins) and Sarah (Christopher Pelosi) Butensky, Christopher (Andrea Leal), Derek, Kelsey and Leah (Nathan Mevec) Woods; her siblings Paulette (Peter) Schillo, Ruth (Robert) Hutt, and William and Mary Soble, as well as many nieces and nephews.
