Corinne Swyers Neville

Corinne Swyers Neville, of Liverpool, NY, passed away on Monday, July 26, 2026 at the age of 96. She was born in Buffalo, NY to her wonderful parents, Frederick and Genevieve (Rehberg) Prall, both of Rochester, NY. She was a lifetime Catholic, beginning at St. John’s Parish in Kenmore, NY. When Corinne was thirteen, her father took a job in Wilmington, DE with the DuPont Company. The family moved to Wilmington, where Corinne attended high school at Ursuline Academy, graduating in the Class of 1947. Her father died of a heart attack during her senior year of high school prompting the family to move back to Rochester, NY.

God did a miracle for Corinne by having her decide to become a nurse. She went to St,. Mary’s Hospital School of Nursing. She was the fourth woman in her family to graduate and become a nurse at St. Mary’s. She spent three wonderful years of study and graduated in 1950 as an RN and kept the friends she made there forever. Corinne attended Syracuse University to study and work in Public Health Nursing. She later graduated from SU with a Bachelor’s of Science Degree.

She married Bill Swyers, and they had four children whom they raised in Fairmount and Camillus, NY. All four graduated from West Genesee High School. Corinne was a communicant of Holy Family Church and later, St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Camillus.

As she was raising her children, Corinne worked on projects at church from craft fairs to parties, and in the school library. She was active in the local Home Bureau Organization, as well as a leader in Boy and Girl Scouts. She enjoyed all kinds of activities, loved the outdoors and winter sports like skiing, tobogganing, sledding and teaching her children and friends to do the same. She loved flowers and gardening. In the summer, she brought the family camping in the Adirondacks for swimming and canoeing.

The family loved traveling, and made several trips to Florida. They also frequently visited relatives in Buffalo, Boston, and Albany, as well as many other trips, including Bill’s company conventions to Florida, Missouri and California. Bill and Corinne also traveled to Mexico City, London, Paris and Ireland.

After raising her children, she resumed her career as a nurse and worked at Community General Hospital for ten years, then later as a teacher of BOCES LPN Nursing. At age 50, Corinne brought her love of helping people to a new career in Real Estate. She worked as a realtor, and later became and Associate Broker, with Patricia Tom RE. She sold real estate for 22 years. She also learned how to flip houses and had rental units. At this time she and Bill Swyers were divorced and annulled, but stayed friends until he died in 2007 at the age of 82.

Corinne was active in may singles groups like One Parent and Parents Without Partners, where she was the treasurer. That is where she met Donald Neville, a recent widower. They fell in love and married in 1989 and moved to Liverpool in 1990. There they attended Pope John XXIII church, where she was a Eucharistic Minister for over 10 years. She remained very active in church and civil organizations. She volunteered at Meals on Wheels; Winds of Agape, her favorite charity; and Catholic Charities with the “Lost Boys of Sudan” for many years. Don died at 56 of a heart attack.

Corinne was also a published author. One of her proudest accomplishments was writing a 160-page family genealogy book. It is left as a legacy to her descendants. She also recently completed her autobiography, as well as previously encouraging Bill Swyers to complete his. The legacy Corinne left her family is to enjoy every day of your life, and when things go wrong, as they do, “pick yourself up, dust yourself off and start all over again.” (A quote from Swing Time, a 1936 film starring Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers.)

Corinne is predeceased by her husbands, Bill Swyers and Don Neville; her sister, Lucille Miller of Albany, NY; her brother, Joseph Prall of Boston, MA; and her infant granddaughter, Nicole Freid. 

She is survived by her three daughters, Lorraine (Robert) Seibold of Wilmington, NC, Carolyn (Bill) Durkee of Baldwinsville, NY and Patricia (Alex) Freid of Winter Garden, FL; her son, Donald (Nancy) Swyers; ten grandchildren, Rick (Rachel) Seibold, Scott (Devon) Seibold, Will Swyers, Samantha Freid, Alyx (Loannel) Marin, Nathan Freid, Bella Freid, David Durkee, Daniel Durkee and Monique (John) Perry; seven great-grandchildren, Duke, Cash and Rickie Seibold and Aurelia Seibold, Monet Marin and Christopher and Ella Perry. Corinne was always close to her extended family and loved them all. She is also survived by many cousins, nieces and nephews in Rochester, Boston, Florida and California.

A calling hour will be held on Saturday, August 8, 2026, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at Pope John XXIII Church, 8290 Soule Road. Liverpool, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 am. The Rite of Committal and Burial will take place graveside in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, 2461 Lake Ave, Rochester, NY 14612 on Monday, August 10, 2026, at 10:00 am.
