Daniel J. Stauffer, Sr., 84, of Liverpool passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Monday, May 20, 2024 at St. Joseph's Hospital. Dan was born in Syracuse and was a graduate of Central Tech High School. He was a U.S. Navy veteran serving from 1957-1963.  He then went on to work for the Onondaga County Sheriff's Department as a Deputy/Detective in CIS and the Arson Task Force from 1968-1981.  He later started his own Fire Investigation Business retiring from that in 2000. He and Barb spent many enjoyable summers at Noto's Green Acres/Brennan's Bay, Sandy Pond.

"Dan was the rarest kind of man, the one who knows how to live with all his heart. He's strong, independent, and always stays true to his beliefs. He doesn't talk nice to please others, but his heart is bigger than the universe and know that his love knows no limits. His loved ones are the luckiest of people in the world, so they should never take advantage of his love."

He is predeceased by his parents, John and Margaret (Vogel), his brother, Bruce, and his sisters, Patricia Wallace and Rose Mary Stauffer.

Daniel is survived by his wife of 61 years, Barbara (Korthas) Stauffer, his sons, John of Camillus, and Dan (Jenn) of Liverpool, his step-daughter, Judy (Bob) Hayes of Liverpool, his brothers and sisters; Tom (Carol), and Denny (Kathy), Janice Vasser (George), and Diane Joyce, several grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, May 28, 2024 from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the Maurer Funeral Home Moyers Corners, 3541 State Rt. 31, Baldwinsville, NY 13027 with a Funeral service to follow at 7:00 pm with military honors.  Burial will be held on Wednesday, May 29, 2024 at 10:00 am in the Liverpool Village Cemetery.
