David W. Lee, 87, of Cicero, NY, passed away peacefully on Tuesday. David was born in 1934 in Cato, NY. He was raised on his family's farm in Cato. He attended Cato High School where he met his High School sweetheart, Sylvia. He served as a mechanic in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Following the war David attended Syracuse University where he earned a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering. He worked as an Electrical Engineer in the Radar and Sonar Divisions at GE for his entire career, retiring in 1992. David enjoyed coaching sports. He coached Little League baseball, Pop Warner Football and youth basketball for many years. He was also a founding member of the Clay Community Church and a life member of the Cato Masonic Lodge. Family was very important to him and he spent many hours supporting his children and grandchildren in their many activities. David always made sure his family knew of his love for each and every one of them. He was always willing to lend a hand to anyone in need and touched the lives of everyone he met. Over the years many of the kids he coached would approach him to say how much they appreciated his guidance, wisdom and kindness. He is predeceased by 2 brothers and 2 sisters.
David is survived by his beloved wife of 68 years Sylvia A. (Wiggins) Lee, children; Timothy (Diane) Lee and Cheryl (Jack) Vault, 3 grandchildren; Timothy (Lorrie) Lee, Jr., Elizabeth Lee and Jack (Marjorie) Vault, 2 great-grandchildren; Brigid and Nora Lee, several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm on Monday, October 24, 2022 at Maurer Funeral Home, Moyers Corners, 3541 State Route 31, Baldwinsville, NY 13027 with funeral services to follow at 1:00 pm. Private burial with military honors will be held Union Hill Cemetery, Cato, NY.
The family wishes to thank the Upstate Hospital Trauma and Neurological ICU units for the care and kindness they provided during his last days.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Clay Community Church, 8650 Morgan Road, Clay, NY 13041.
