Deacon John
H. Collins
February 20, 1945 – December 10, 2024
Deacon John Hannon Collins 79, of Pennellville NY passed away peacefully at his home on December 10, 2024. Deacon John Collins was a member of the Catholic Churches Permanent Deaconate Program and served St. John Evangelist Church and parishioners at Ross Towers in Syracuse NY for many years. John was proud to be a veteran and served in the United States Armed Forces from 1963 through 1967. He retired from Penn Traffic Warehouses where he worked as head refrigeration mechanic for many years.
John was born in Hoboken NJ where he met the love of his life Rosemarie (Ulicki) Collins. John and Rosemarie married in 1963 and had ten children. Deacon John Collins was a generous man who dedicated his life to helping others. He was a world class father and husband and loved to salmon fish with his sons. He earned the nickname 'Golden Hook', and will be remembered, cherished and loved by his family and all those who were fortunate to know him.
He is predeceased by his loving wife, Rosemarie Collins, his daughter, Kathleen (Chuck) Rogalia, his infant son, Matthew Collins and his sister, MaryClaire Vargus.
John is survived by his children; Denise (Charlie) Letourneau of Baldwinsville NY, John F. Collins of New Orleans LA, Sheryl (Andrew) Gay of Camillus NY, Mary Comtois of Fayetteville NY, Eugene Collins of Happy Valley Oregon, Sarah (Kelly) Collins of Buffalo NY, Shawn Collins of Camillus NY, and Daniel (Jayme) Collins of Baldwinsville NY, his brother, Thomas (Kathleen) Collins, several nieces, nephews, and grandchildren. John will be missed and he was loved by all.
Johns' life was celebrated on Friday, December 13, 2024 with a Mass of Christian Burial which was celebrated by The Most Reverend Bishop Douglas J. Lucia, Rev. Zachary Miller, and many priests and Deacons with family members at Pope John XXIII Roman Catholic Church, Liverpool, NY.
