Obituary

Deborah D. Bobo, born August 1, 1948 died peacefully with her family by her side on December 12, 2022.  She was 74 years old.  Deborah grew up in Niagara Falls, NY and has lived in Baldwinsville, NY for over 40 years where she was a communicant at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church.

Deborah received her Bachelor's of Elementary Education and went on to earn a Master's of Education and a Certificate of Advanced Study (CAS) from SUNY Oswego.

She began her career teaching in the North Syracuse Central School District until she became the Director of Elementary Education at Cato-Meridian Central Schools.  She then served as Superintendent of Schools at Cato-Meridian from 2003-2009. She is pre-deceased by her parents, Douglas Dean, Sr. and Margaret Dean; her twin sister, Denise Zakia and her brother-in-law, Medal of Honor Recipient, John P. Bobo, USMC.

Deborah is survived by her loving husband of 54 years, Timothy, as well as her daughter and son-in-law, Heather and Andrew Bender of Hollis, NH.  She was adored by her grandchildren, Elise, Ethan, and Colin Bender, also of Hollis, NH.  She is also survived by her brother and sister-in-law, Douglas and Eugenia Dean; brother-in-law, Nelson Zakia; cousins, Linda and George Schwabe; her beloved Bobo family, William & Anne, Patrick & Jane and Mary & Joe and many loving nieces and nephews, including Erin Rouse, as well as a host of grand-nieces and grand-nephews.

Deborah will be missed terribly by all who were touched by her caring and generosity.   A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, December 16, 2022 at 12:00 noon in St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, 3494 State Route 31, Baldwinsville, NY. Burial will be private.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Deborah's memory may be made to Catholic Charities of Onondaga County, Fund Development, 1654 West Onondaga Street, Syracuse, NY 13204.
