Delores "Dee" Rudy Carney, 83, of Liverpool, NY, passed away peacefully on July 28, 2025, after a brief illness. Born on July 1, 1942, in Syracuse, NY, she was the daughter of Bernice M. (Walenia) and Joseph E. Rudy, Sr.
A graduate of St. Lucy's Academy and St. Joseph's College of Nursing, Dee lived in Liverpool for over 50 years. She began her nursing career at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, MA and worked at St. Joseph's Hospital in Syracuse. After raising four children with her husband, Peter, Dee continued her nursing career with Syracuse's Merrick Head Start, making an impact in her childhood neighborhood.
Dee was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, friend, and nurse, known for her compassion, unconditional love, nurturing nature and desire for perfection. Her smile lit up the room. She enjoyed traveling the world, visiting the United States, Canada, Europe, Africa, China, Mexico and Colombia.
Her parents, Joseph E. Rudy, Sr. (1988) and Bernice (Walenia) Rudy (2014), and her older brother, Joseph E. Rudy, Jr. (2023), are predeceased.
She is survived by her husband, Peter D. Carney of Boynton Beach, FL, and her brother Thomas (Nancy Carr) Rudy of Sacramento, CA. Her four children; David (Francisco Duque) Carney of New York, Pam (Mark) Polemeni of Chatham, NJ,
Kevin (Joan) Carney of Charlotte, and Michelle (Lukas) Coogan of Barnard, VT, and seven grandchildren; Mattia Polemeni, Hoban Carney, Olivia Polemeni, Cole Polemeni, Bennett Polemeni, Malachi Coogan, and Seamus Coogan also, mourn her passing and celebrate her life.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, October 11, 2025 at 10:00 am at St Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, 3494 State Rt. 31, Baldwinsville, NY 13027.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests charitable contributions to Head Start PEACE, Inc. or to the American Heart Association.
