Donald J. Grovine, Sr., 89, of Clay, NY passed away on Thursday, at home surrounded by his loving family. Don was blessed with a wonderful and successful life. He retired from the Syracuse Fire Department in 1983. He was also a barber in the village of Liverpool for 50 years. Additionally, Donald served his country as a US Army Veteran during the Korean War from 1951 to 1953.

Donald was a member of the Knights of Columbus-Sacred Heart Council of Cicero, NY, a member of the Liverpool Art Guild, and the Firefighters Union Local 280. He was a parishioner of Sacred Heart Church in Cicero, where he was a member of the Holy Name Society and a church usher. Donald was a founding member of the Clay Sportsman Club and an avid bowler and golfer. He was a great fan of SU sports, the NY Yankees, and the Buffalo Bills. Donald is predeceased by his brother, Charles Grovine, earlier this year, and his daughter-in-law, Debra Grovine, in 2011.

Surviving to cherish Donald's memory are his loving wife of 64 years, Jane M. Grovine, his son, Donald J. Grovine, Jr., his daughters; Donna M. (Peter) Zangari, Lori A. Ward, and Terry J. (Perry) Whitmore; Sister-in-law, Janet Grovine, grandchildren; Peter, Andrea, Jessica, Michael (Kelsey), Julia, and Maria, and several nieces and nephews.

He will always be remembered for being a loving husband, father, and grandfather. A special thank you to the Seneca Dialysis for the great care Donald received.

Funeral services will be held privately with the Rite of Committal and burial in Pine Plains Cemetery, Clay, NY.
