Donald "Don" Lawrence Roux, 68, passed away peacefully after a brief illness surrounded by family on Friday, September 9, 2022 in Fletcher, North Carolina. Don was born in Schenectady, NY and grew up in North Syracuse, NY. He graduated from Bishop Grimes High School in 1971. Don married the love of his life, Susan (Sheely) in 1975, living first in Rochester, NY before moving and settling in Baldwinsville, NY. Don worked many years as a photographic film technician for professional photographers. After moving to NC in 2004, he worked as a machine technician for Celgard LLC.
Don is predeceased by his parents, Raymond and Jeannette Roux and his older brother, Richard (Rick) Roux.
Don was a kind and gentle soul, always willing to help others. He adored his family, enjoyed bowling, fishing, and exploring the Blue Ridge Mountains with his wife. His caring heart loved many animals throughout his life; the most recent was his rescue dog Otis.
Don is survived by his wife of 47 years, Susan "Sue" Roux; his sons, Dan (Mary) Roux of Atlanta, Georgia and Adam Roux (Rachel) of East Syracuse, New York; six grandchildren, Brianna, Elliot, Audrey, Ryann, Joseph, and Vivian; siblings, Elaine Horton, Raymond (Traci) Roux, Tom (Sheila) Roux, Larry Roux (Allison), Michele (Greg) Morgan, and many nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be Friday, October 21, 2022 from 4:00-6:00 pm at Maurer Funeral Home Moyers Corners, 3451 State Route 31, Baldwinsville, NY.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, October 22, 2022 at 10:00 am in St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, 3494 State Route 31, Baldwinsville, NY. The Rite of Committal and burial will follow in Our Lady of Peace Cemetery, 8668 County Route 57, Baldwinsville, NY.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that you send donations in Don's honor to Charlie's Angels Animal Rescue ( https://www.charliesangelsanimalrescue.com/donate/ ) where he volunteered his time; walking the dogs and taking them to events to help find potential forever homes.
