Donna M.
Bartlett
September 16, 1945 – November 2, 2024
Donna M. (Monica) Bartlett, 79, of Liverpool, NY passed away on Saturday, November 2, 2024 at Crouse Hospital. Born on September 16, 1945 in Potsdam, NY, she was the daughter of the late Kenneth Monica and Edith Monica. She attended school in Sandy Creek and graduated in 1962.
Education was very important to her, being the first in her family to go to college, where she did not just earn a degree in English but did so as valedictorian of her class at LeMoyne College. She leveraged this degree later in life both in her career as an Executive Secretary at O'Brien & Gere Engineers, and to mercilessly beat her children in Scrabble, which soon became a Christmas tradition. Full disclosure, we would often encourage a second game to let the wine catch up to her so we could win one every once in a while.
She loved her family dearly and supported them in whatever they did. She attended their various activities, including multiple sporting events, concerts and was even a den mother. She was very active in her church, Pope John XXIII Roman Catholic, where she participated in numerous committees over her 45 years as a congregant. She contributed to multiple causes that ranged from helping those in need to donating to wildlife.
Donna had a witty sense of humor and could take as well as she could dish out. She was an avid reader and would jot notes on the books she was reading to keep track of the characters (who does that???).
Donna's children would like to thank the staff at Crouse Hospital. They were amazing while she was there over the past two weeks.
She is predeceased by her husband, Charles T. Bartlett, brothers, Richard Monica and John Monica and her son-in-law, Alfred Goerlach, Jr.
Surviving to cherish Donna's memory are her children; Deborah Goerlach, Michael (Suzanne) Bartlett and Charles K. (Sara) Bartlett, her grandchildren; Gabriel Bartlett. Sara (Patrick) Delaney, Eliza (Adam) Dragon, Michal Dragon, Julia Rose Dragon, Aurelia Delaney and Saebra Delaney. She is also survived by her sister, Marlene Cox, a nephew and many nieces.

Her children found this quote from the Bengali poet Tagore that she had highlighted from a magazine article back in November 1992, which sums up her thoughts on death: "Death is not extinguishing the light. It is putting out the lamp because the dawn has come."
