Doris E.
Nieczkoski
May 29, 1929 – March 31, 2024
Doris Elaine (Redhead) Nieczkoski of Liverpool passed away peacefully at her home of 63 years on Sunday, March 31, 2024 at the age of 94. Doris was born at her family homestead in Woodard, New York on May 29, 1929. She was the third child of Marion and William Redhead, but would eventually be one of eleven siblings. After graduation from Mexico High School in Mexico, NY, she attended Secretarial School in Syracuse where she met and married Winfield John Rouse. They had one daughter before Winfield passed away in 1959 at a young age. Being a widowed mother, she worked hard to care for her daughter and herself, sometimes staying up late at night sewing the outfit she would wear to work the next day.
She met and married her second husband Chester Joseph Nieczkoski in 1961. They had two children after settling at the home Chester built in Liverpool, New York. This home is where Doris remained the rest of her life.
Doris was an incredibly hard worker, an extraordinary mother, and wonderful grandmother. She took special care of her home and her beautiful yard, which she was so proud of. She actually retired her John Deere late in 2022 at the age of 93.
Throughout her life, Doris was a devoted caretaker. She not only cared for her children and grandchildren, but she also took care of many people who needed help and assistance as they became older. She was often baking and cooking special meals for these special friends and of course, for her family. Rarely did she use a recipe, but everything always tasted wonderful. In her later years, she cherished the numerous visits from her children and grandchildren who came often to stay with her in her home.
Doris was a lifelong member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Liverpool. She was very active in the church, volunteering for many of the church sponsored outreach programs, and teaching Sunday School when her children were young.
Doris enjoyed many years of friendship with her Over the Rainbow friends. They attended dances, went out to dinner, and played a lot of card games, which Doris really enjoyed and would often win.
Doris is predeceased in death by her husband, Chester and her beloved grandson, Alexander Joseph Nieczkoski.
She is survived by her three children; Donna (Richard) Hopkins of Boulder, Colorado, Cheryl (David) West of Syracuse and Stephen (Elena) Nieczkoski of Boulder, Colorado. She is also survived by her four grandchildren; Erika, Micaela, Emily (Ryan), and Heather. Doris will be deeply missed by her family and many friends that appreciated her intellect, warm interaction, and tenacious drive to always complete the many things that she started.
A celebration of Doris's life on what would have been her 95th birthday will be held on Wednesday, May 29, 2024 at 11:00 am in St. Paul's Lutheran Church, 210 Hazel St., Liverpool, NY 13088. Family request's everyone wear yellow in Doris's memory.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Doris's memory to St. Paul's Lutheran Church, 210 Hazel St., Liverpool, NY 13088 or to the Central New York SPCA, 5878 East Molloy Road, Syracuse, NY 13211.
