Dorothy "Dottie" C. Tweedy, 82, of Baldwinsville, NY passed away peacefully on Wednesday, surrounded by her family. She was born in Troy, NY, the daughter of the late Robert and Rose (Wray) Jones. Dottie grew up in Lansingburgh, NY, graduating from Lansingburgh High School, Class of 1960. It was there she met her high school sweetheart and love of her life. On August 27, 1965 she was united in marriage to William C. Tweedy, a blessed union of 58 years. For over 40 years, Dottie worked as a beloved Dental Assistant for Joseph Foley, DDS in Troy, NY. The couple previously had resided in Lansingburgh and Brunswick before coming to Syracuse, settling in Baldwinsville in 2005 to be near their children.
Dottie enjoyed the outdoors and was an avid golfer. She enjoyed summers boating on Lake George and Lake Champlain. Dottie cherished time spent with family and friends, whether spoiling her grandchildren or playing Mah Jong with her close circle of girlfriends. Dottie was strong willed and very proud to be a breast cancer survivor since 1991. She was the "Rock" of the family, always full of energy with her loving, kind and gentle ways. In addition to her parents, Dottie is predeceased by her brother, Robert "Bob" Jones.
Surviving is her devoted husband, William "Coach" C. Tweedy of Baldwinsville, NY, son, Gregg (Dr. Agatha) Tweedy of Clay, NY, daughter, Erika (Sean) Johnston of Onondaga Hill, six grandchildren; Hannah Rose, Jack, Brendan, Gabriel, Liam and Ben, her sister, Elizabeth "Betty" Campbell of Pittstown, NY, several nieces, nephews and close friends.
A celebration of Dottie's life will be held on Saturday, May 18, 2024 from 12:00 pm to 4:00 pm at Persimmons Restaurant, 3536 Timber Banks Parkway, Baldwinsville, NY 13027.
