Duane C. Olin, 81, of Memphis, NY passed away Thursday peacefully at home. Duane was born in Syracuse and attended Eastwood High School graduating the Class of '56. After graduating he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps proudly serving his country. He previously worked as Superintendent for Olin Construction Company. In 1968 he founded Memphis Construction Inc., which he owned and operated until 2001. He also founded and owned Barbet Development, Midstate Minerals, Midsouthern Equipment and Forty Plus, LLC. He was a member and president of the National Utility Contractors Association (NUCA) and active in the Jordan-Elbridge Athletic Booster Club. His life was dedicated to his beloved wife, his five children, 13 grandchildren, and his love for the Marine Corps, his farm, and everything construction. He was a parishioner of Holy Family Church. Duane is predeceased by his parents Clifford and Ina, and two brothers James and Harvey.
Surviving are his wife of 58 years, Barbara (Caveny) Olin. two sons, Brad (Jennifer) and Brian (Cindy), three daughters; Michele (Ken) Lynch, Kristin (Nick) Caringi, and Kolleen Sulli, 13 grandchildren; Ashley Olin, Colin (Angela) Lynch, Shawn Lynch, Erin Olin, Malorie Olin, Kaitlin Caringi, Griffin Olin, Megan Lynch, Allison Green, Kyle Caringi, Shane Olin, Tanner Olin and Reagan Sulli, sister, Freda Olin and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
The family would like to thank Cleveland Clinic LVAD team for their care and compassion in extending Duane's quality of life.
Calling hours will be held on Monday, June 22 from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm at Holy Family Church, 127 Chapel Drive, Syracuse, NY 13219 with a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 12:30 pm. The Rite of Committal and Entombment will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery, Warners, NY.
