Obituary

Edward Guertin, 76, of Liverpool, NY, was at home in the company of family when he sadly left us on July 1, 2022, following a determined struggle with kidney disease. Ed's childhood was full of hardships. We celebrate his life and legacy and reflect on what we can accomplish in life with determination and grit.

Ed was born in Ontario, Canada into a French-Canadian family. His father died when he was one. His mother struggled and frequently placed him in an orphanage to receive care. At the orphanage, he learned English, found stability, and fostered the determination to better his condition.

As a child, Ed worked to support himself and his family. He eventually found his calling as a salesperson and independent businessman.  Ed was an old-school salesman, committed to the success of his customers, and the value of his brand over a quick buck. With these principles, and the alliance of his devoted wife Dianne of 54 years, they built Guertin Distributors, Inc. into a successful family business, and a top ranked equipment distributorship for Henny Penny and Stoelting.  The family business will continue under the stewardship of their children, Michelle and Richard Guertin.

Ed worked hard to share the fruits of his success with his family. He loved cruising around the world, escorting family, and friends on North American adventures in his RV, spending time at the family cottage on Oneida Lake and gathering his grandchildren for an afternoon at the theater.

Ed is survived by his wife Dianne; children, Michelle (Kyle Milk), Ian (Jennifer), Denise Romancik, Richard (Kristen); and devoted grandchildren, Autumn Maggi, Aubrey and Emmet Guertin, Owen and Nolan Romancik, and Delaney, Sydney, and Maddox Guertin.

A special thanks to our hospital and home care specialists for their attentiveness and kindness throughout Ed's health challenges.
