Edward J.
Lundy
December 19, 1931 – October 15, 2024
Edward J. Lundy of Liverpool, NY, loving father, grandfather, and great-grandfather passed away on Tuesday, October 15, 2024 surrounded by his loving family. Eddie, also known as the "big guy" was born in 1931 to Edward P. Lundy and Catherine Burkart (of Terry Road in Westvale). He grew up in Syracuse and graduated from CBA (Christian Brothers Academy) High School and after serving in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean War, he then went onto Le Moyne College where he earned a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting. Eddie was proud to be elected to Alpha Sigma Nu National Jesuit Honor Society for Men which is based on loyalty, service and scholarship. Also, during his time in college, he worked at the A&P Grocery store to help support his education and that's where he met the love of his life, Janice Marie Rosenberger who became his wife of 57 years.
Eddie was a Certified Public Accountant and practiced accounting for 43 years in Syracuse and Fulton, NY. He was a partner in Beiling and Lundy, CPA's and went on to form his own firm. He was a lifelong member of the NYS Society of CPA's and the American Institute of CPA's. Ed was proud to become both a friend and advisor to so many of his clients. He sold his firm in 1999 and continued to do accounting work for several of his cherished clients over the next 15 years.
Ed's other passion besides numbers was golf. He was a member and served as the Board President of Beaver Meadows where he introduced the entire family to the game of golf and years later, he joined Liverpool Golf and Country Club where he was an active member. If he was not home on a beautiful spring, summer or warm fall day you could catch him at the golf course. Ed coordinated many tournaments, side bets and was humbly proud of his four hole in ones and enjoyed golf until the age of 90.
Family meant the world to Eddie. From his beloved wife, Janice, and their children, to his cherished sisters, brother in-laws, brother, sister in-law, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, aunts, uncles, and cousins, he always found a way to stay connected with each and every one of them. Whether through shared vacations, speed runs, quick text messages, FaceTime calls, or heartfelt phone conversations, Eddie ensured that he kept in touch with all.
Ed had a wonderful gift of making friends wherever he went. His enthusiasm for life was felt by all. He was a storyteller; a jokester and he always had a funny story to share that was enjoyed by many. He established life-long friendships that he cherished deeply.
Ed is predeceased by his wife, Janice R. Lundy, their infant son, Edward, his sisters and brother in-laws, Vera (Thomas) Kingston, Eleanor (Robert) Clapper and Mary (Ralph) Fox.
Surviving to cherish Ed's memory are his children; Michael (Joanne) of Canandaigua, NY, Sharon (Larry) LaBella of Skaneateles, NY, Daniel Lundy (Maureen) of Hopkinton, MA, Mark (Jill) Lundy of Bonita Springs, FL and Kathleen (Christopher) Stafford of Marblehead, MA., thirteen grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and his brother, William (Chris) Lundy of Oswego, NY.
He was a great husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend that will be sorely missed by all. God Bless.
