Obituary

Elizabeth "Betty" L. Walz, 91, of Liverpool, passed away peacefully Monday, February 12, 2024 surrounded by her loving family.  Betty was born in Rochester, NY on March 16, 1932.  She was educated in the Catholic school system, graduating from Mercy High School.  After graduation she went on to earn her R.N. degree from St. Mary's School of Nursing in Rochester.  After moving to Syracuse, she worked part time in labor and delivery at St. Mary's Hospital on Court St. in Syracuse, NY.  After the closing of St. Mary's Hospital, she went on to work at St. Camillus Nursing Home and the Syracuse Developmental Center.

Besides being a very caring and compassionate Nurse, she was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.  She loved to sew, read, and babysit any chance she could.  She was all about family.  Betty met her husband Tom at Carter Playground in Rochester when they were in grammar school.  They were later married at St. Andrews Church in Rochester.

She is survived by her husband of 70 years, Thomas, her children; Tom (Bonnie) of Brandon, FL, Donna (Jim) Sprague of Liverpool, Jerry of Liverpool, Beth (Dave) Forbes of Liverpool, 7 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 am Friday, February 16, 2024 in the Catholic Family of Epiphany Church, (formerly St. Joseph the Worker Church) 1001 Tulip St., Liverpool, NY 13088.  The Rite of Committal and burial will follow at Pine Plains Cemetery, Clay, NY.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of CNY, 990 7th North Street, Liverpool, NY 13088.
