Elon "Matt" Matthews, 86, of Liverpool, NY passed away peacefully on Friday, September 15, 2023. He was born in Gouverneur, NY, the son of the late Albert and Vera (Porter) Matthews. In 1963, he was united in marriage to Mary Lou (Pedley); they enjoyed 60 happy years together.

Matt was employed with IBM Corp. in Syracuse, NY as a computer engineer, retiring in 1996. A lifelong learner, Matt pursued a variety of passions including music, history, photography and genealogy. He attended Harper College and earned a bachelor's degree from Empire State College following retirement. He and Mary Lou enjoyed traveling together, especially visiting Maine and lighthouses across the U.S.

Surviving to cherish his memory is his beloved wife, Mary Lou Matthews of Liverpool, NY, three sons; David (Carol) Matthews of Pennellville, NY, Christopher (Cindy) Matthews of Roanoke, TX and Mark (Debbie) Matthews of Apex, NC, five grandchildren; Tony (Ashley), Alex, Noah, Brenna, and Sophia; and one great-grandchild, Mia.

Services will be private.
