Florence Himpler Schuelke, age 95, passed away at home on September 29, 2023. She was born in Solvay, a daughter of Frank Himpler and Mary Henchen Himpler. She graduated from Solvay High School in 1946 and St. Joseph's School of Nursing, class of 1949. She was a resident of Liverpool and a communicant of Immaculate Heart of Mary parish.
Florence was a general staff nurse in surgery at St. Joseph's and then worked as an office nurse for Dr. John R. Isaac, retiring after 26 years in 1990. She was a member of the Salina Town Seniors, and enjoyed bowling, golf, and playing cards with her sisters and grandchildren.
Florence is predeceased by her husband, Fred G. Schuelke, her daughter, Margaret "Peg" Rydelek, sisters; Thelma Himpler, Mary Storie, Dorothy Akkoul Smorol, Carolyn Himpler, brothers; Frank Himpler, Ed Himpler, Bob Himpler and Paul Himpler, and grandson, Quinn Gannon.
She is survived by her daughter, Barbara Gannon, sons-in-law, Steve Gannon and Mike Rydelek, grandchildren; Meghanne Rydelek (Tony) Esposito, Joe Rydelek, Genevieve Gannon (Mike) Smith, Matthew (fiancée, Lara) Gannon, great-grandson Vincent Esposito, sisters, Helen Rivers and Ruth Howard, and numerous nieces and nephews.
A calling hour will be held on Friday, October 6, 2023 from 11:30 am to 12:30 pm in Epiphany Parish at St. Joseph the Worker Church, 1001 Tulip St., Liverpool, NY 13088 with A Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 12:30 pm. The Rite of Committal and burial will follow in Pine Plains Cemetery, Clay, NY.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to the Alumni Association of St. Joseph's College of Nursing in Syracuse NY or Catholic Relief Services.
