Frederick G. Harke, Sr., 86, of Clay, NY passed away on Sunday. He was born in Syracuse, NY a son of the late Edward and Geraldine (Woodard) Harke. Fred grew up in Moyers Corners and worked alongside his father and brother on the Harke Farms. He graduated from North Syracuse High School, class of 1953. Fred retired as the Superintendent of the Clay Water Department in 2000. Fred's memberships included; a 50-year member and past Chief of the Moyers Corners Fire Department, Loyal Order of Moose serving on their ritual team and Faith Journey United Methodist Church. He is predeceased by his two sisters, Elizabeth Busco and Margaret Turner and his son-in-law, Alan Orcutt.

Surviving is his wife of 69 years, Barbara J. (Loura) Harke of Clay, NY, three sons; Frederick G. Harke, Jr. of Rehoboth Beach, DE, Earl E. Harke of Clay, NY, John H. Harke of Horseshoe Island, NY, four daughters; Betty J. (Jimmy) Michael of Lexington, NC, Bonnie J. Orcutt of China Grove, NC, Barbara J. Harke Phinney of North Syracuse, NY, Brenda J. (William) Smith of Central Square, NY, 10 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, his brother, Edward (Dora) Harke of Clay, NY, many nieces, nephews and cousins.

A celebration of life will be held on Tuesday, October 11, 2022 from 3:00 to 7:00 pm at the Moyers Corners Fire Department, Station 1, 8481 Oswego Road, Baldwinsville, NY 13027. Private burial will be in Pine Plains Cemetery, Clay, NY.
