Brough, Jr.
July 15, 1971 – June 24, 2023
Fredric "Fred" L. Brough, Jr., 51, of Liverpool, passed away Saturday, June 24, 2023 in Smyrna Beach, Fl. Fred was graduate of Liverpool High School Class of 1989, and a 1991 graduate of Onondaga Community College. He joined the Syracuse Police Department graduating from the police academy in 1993. In 1999 he graduated from K-9 Handling Training School where he served as a K-9 Police Officer.
For Fred "To Protect and Serve" was not merely a motto. It was a philosophy that guided his life. As proof, in 2001, Fred was awarded the Syracuse Police Department Hendricks Medal Award for bravery. Fred also received several Commendations from the Syracuse and Liverpool Police Departments. Fred had a strong will, enormous heart, and a wonderful sense of humor. He was generous, loyal, brave, and the first to lend a hand to someone in need.
Fred retired from the Syracuse Police Department in 2013 after 20 years of service. He later went on to continue police work for an additional 6 years with the Liverpool Police Department. He attended the Professional Career Center and for 16 years Fred worked as a Real Estate Agent and Broker. Fred enjoyed fishing, motorcycling and K-9 training.
Surviving to cherish his memory are his parents, Fredric L. Sr. and Ann Brough of Liverpool, NY, Sisters, Stacie Brough of Syracuse and Joyce (Mark) Cardone of Liverpool, 3 nieces, Emily, Holly, and Jocelyn, nephew, Stephen and several aunts and uncles.
Calling hours will be held on Friday, July 21, 2023 from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the Epiphany Parish at St. Joseph the Worker Church, 1001 Tulip St., Liverpool, NY 13088. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, July 22, 2023 at 11:00 am at the church. The Rite of Committal and burial will be in the Liverpool Village Cemetery.
