Gail Patricia (Williams) Clarke, 71, received her wings on Monday, June 1, 2026, after battling a long illness, surrounded by her family. She was born on February 9, 1955 in Syracuse, NY. She was child number four of ten siblings. Gail attended the Syracuse City Schools, receiving her GED from Syracuse Educational Opportunity Center (SEOC), was a certified LPN through BOCES and a Licensed Cosmetologist. She worked at the Syracuse Community Health Centers, Cole Funeral Home and Van Duyn Home and Hospital.
Gail’s joy was eating good soul food, specially made by her brother-n-love, Darryl. She played World of Warcraft online video games, loved all music with a soulful beat and loving message. She loved her family – especially FaceTime chatting “baby goo-goo” to the grandkids and little ones.
She is predeceased by her parents, Nettie Mae Williams and Charles Levern Williams; spouse, George Elliott Clarke, Jr.; brothers, Timothy Levern Williams, Sr. and Charles Earl Williams, Sr.
Gail leaves to cherish and mourn her memories, children, James D. Cox, Sr. and George E. Clarke III (Jessica); furbaby, “Kelvin”; five grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; siblings, Amali Williams, James R. Williams, Sr. (Tammy), Brenda J. Mims, Deborah A. Menifee (Darryl), Paul E. Williams, Sr., Alane T. Johnson (Lonnie Sr.), Emily Williams, and a host of nieces and nephews (130 with Greats and Great-greats).
The family would like to thank both Gail’s Liverpool Village and church families for their support over the years.
A Going Home Celebration for Gail will be held on Saturday, June 13, 2026, at 2:00 pm at the United Church of Christ in Bayberry, 215 Blackberry Rd. Liverpoool, NY 13090.
Please sign the Maurer Funeral Home on-line guestbook for Gail to express your condolences to her family.
