Gail L Rau, 76, of Liverpool NY, was called to the Lord Monday, April 24, 2023. She was a beloved wife, mother, aunt and friend. But her favorite title was Nana.

Gail grew up in Amherst, NY graduating from Sweet Home High School, class of 1966. She became a Licensed Practical Nurse, dedicating her life to serve others in hospitals, nursing homes and private practices. She was an active member of Pope John XXIII Catholic Church in Liverpool where she held various roles including first communion teacher, confirmation coordinator, eucharist minister and lead children's liturgy. She was also the coordinator of the home bound ministry. In 2020, Gail was the proud recipient of the Immaculata award for the Diocese of Syracuse. In the 1980's Gail spent her time being Troop Administrator for the Liverpool Girl Scouts. In recent years, Gail was very active in the Syracuse Shelby Mustang Club and pioneered a ladies monthly themed luncheon for all of the Women of the club.

If anyone knew Gail, you would know her to be extremely crafty. She loved to make things with her hands and was an excellent baker. Gail was never without a smile or a kind word to anyone she met. She was very excited about the cruise her and John had planned to celebrate their upcoming 50th wedding anniversary.

Gail is survived by her loving husband, John Rau, daughter, Dawn-Marie Rau, son, Scott Rau, daughter-in-law, Maureen Rau, grandchildren; Lucian Rau, Quinn Rau, Hayden Rau and her beloved dog Jill.

Calling hours will be held on Friday, April 28, 2023 from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the Maurer Funeral Home Moyers Corners, 3541 State Rt 31, Baldwinsville, NY 13027. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, April 29, 2023 at 11:00 am in Pope John XXIII Catholic Church, 8290 Soule Road, Liverpool, NY 13090.
