Gary Pease Gilmore, 82, of Liverpool, NY, died peacefully on Tuesday at the Syracuse VA Medical Center. He was born in Syracuse, NY to the late Durrance and M. Elizabeth (Pease) Gilmore. Gary grew up in Liverpool, graduating from Liverpool High School, Class of 1960.  He proudly served in the U.S. Army, enlisting in August of 1960, commissioned as an officer in 1967, until his honorable discharge as a Captain in August of 1973. Gary earned several distinguished medals, including a Purple Heart. He was an avid golfer, hunter and fisherman. Gary especially enjoyed time with family and friends at Murray Isle on the St. Lawrence River.

He is survived by his children, Geoffrey (Cheryl) Gilmore of Newtown, PA, Gregory (Tamara) Gilmore of Marcellus, NY, Christopher (Jennifer) Gilmore of Newport News, VA, Kim (Stephen) Smolen of Marcellus, NY; 9 grandchildren, Sarah, Hannah, Josephine, Nathan, Ashley, Hallie, Drew, Olivia and Benjamin;  his brother, Bruce (Mary Ellen) Gilmore of Ponte Vedra Beach, FL, a niece and a nephew.

A private memorial service will be held at a later date.

The family would like to thank the nurses and staff at the Syracuse VA Medical Center for taking such great care of him.
