Obituary

George M. Fleischmann, 88, of Liverpool passed away peacefully on Friday at the Francis House. He was born in Syracuse, son of the late George M. and Anna E. (Heppeler) Fleischmann, Jr. He attended Assumption Catholic Academy and graduated from Christian Brothers Academy in Syracuse. After school, George enlisted in the United States Navy during the Korean War. After serving his country, he returned to the Syracuse area settling in Liverpool. He worked as manager at Heid's of Liverpool where he met his wife, Rosemary J. Young, a blessed union for many years. George was employed as a Carpenter and retired from the Carpenters Union Local # 747 in Syracuse. He was an active parishioner and volunteered at Assumption Church in Syracuse. George not only served as an usher at church but also at many local sporting events in Syracuse. He was a member of the Pastime Athletic Club and the American Legion, Liverpool Post # 364. He is predeceased by his wife, Rosemary in 1993, his daughter, Karen Ann Fleischmann in 1974, his sister, Maryanne Thompson and son-in-law, Joseph Pasternak.

Surviving are his children; Cheryl A. Pasternak of Columbus, OH, Linda (John) Burrows, Cindy (Mike) Avery both of Central Square, NY, George M. (Christine) Fleischmann, III and Richard P. Fleischmann both of Liverpool, NY, 11 grandchildren; Kiersten, Joey, Michelle (Rick), Johnny, Danny (Nesha), Kara, William, Rosemary, Richard, Raechel, Ryan, three great-grandchildren; Olivia, Hayden and Riley, several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Calling hours will be held on Sunday, October 31, 2021 from 2:00 to 4:00 pm at the Maurer Funeral Home, Inc. 300 Second St. Liverpool. (MASKS WILL BE REQUIRED) A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, November 1, 2021 at 10:00 am in Assumption Church, 812 N. Salina St. Syracuse, NY 13208. The Rite of Committal and burial will follow in Assumption Cemetery in Syracuse.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Francis House, 108 Michaels Ave, Syracuse, NY 13208.
