Henry "Jimmie"
F. James, Sr.
September 29, 1924 – July 18, 2022
Henry "Jimmie" Frederick James, Sr., of Liverpool, NY lived to 97 years young until he was called home on Monday. He was born and raised in central London and as a young lad sang in a boys choir in a large church in London, delivered bread on his bicycle and eventually lied about his age so he could enlist early in the British Navy during WWII and was a gunner on the HMS Sheffield. After patrolling the North Sea, he came to Boston where he met his wife, Georgie. They moved to London and were married. Before returning to the states he worked as a driver of the iconic double-decker buses. Jimmie graduated from Northeastern University, receiving his Bachelor's in Engineering. They lived in several states before he retired from the Syracuse VA Medical Center as their plant engineer. He was a volunteer for the American Red Cross for thirty years, an EMT for Liverpool Ambulance and East Ambulance Volunteer (EAVES) in East Syracuse. Jimmie was a member of the Tigris Shrine Band, playing the trumpet in many local parades and sang in the St. Matthew's Episcopal Church choir in Liverpool with his beautiful tenor voice. He was predeceased by his wife Georgie, and three brothers.
Henry is survived by his son, Henry F (Pat) James, Jr, of Cary IL, his longtime companion, Sallie Jameson, her daughter, Jenni (Ed) Gratien, grandchildren; Henry "Eric" F James, III, Bryon, Jonathon, Cameron, Lauren, Sarah, David, and seven great-grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be held on Friday, July 22, 2022 at 10:00 am in St. Matthew's Episcopal Church, 904 Vine St, Liverpool, NY, 13088.
