Hubert W. Schlientz Jr. (Hubie) passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 21, 2026 leaving behind a legacy of hard work, creative joy, and love for his family and community.

Born to the late Hubert W. and Esora Schlientz, Hubie was a lifelong resident of Liverpool. He dedicated his career to engineering excellence, serving for many years as a resident inspector for O'Brien & Gere and later Ramboll. His work took him across the nation, and his warm demeanor and integrity allowed him to turn job sites across the country into places where lifelong friendships were forged.

Known affectionately as the "Frankenstein of Fairway East," he delighted generations of neighbors with his elaborate, unforgettable Halloween displays. When he wasn't haunting the neighborhood for fun, he could usually be found tending to his beautiful garden—and he was always quick to drop off armfuls of fresh, homegrown vegetables to friends and neighbors nearby.

Hubie is survived by his wife, Gail Schlientz; his three daughters, Gretchen (Richard Schumbehl), Katie (Christian Hughes), and Stefanie Schlientz; and his two grandchildren, RJ and Lily, who brought immense pride and joy to his life.

Calling hours will be held on Monday, July 27th, from 4:00pm to 6:00pm at Maurer Funeral Home Moyers Corners, 3541 State Route 31, Baldwinsville, NY 13027.

To celebrate Hubie's love for animals, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to Paws Across Oswego County, 10 Klocks Corners Rd., Building 2, Oswego, NY 13126.
