Obituary

Hugh F. Barrie, 77, of Baldwinsville, NY passed away on Wednesday, January 15, 2025. He was born in Niskayuna, NY, the son of the late Ermes A. and Marilyn (Vedder) Barrie. Hugh was the owner of Barrie's Tavern in Syracuse, NY and sponsored Barrie's National Championship Broom-ball team.  He retired from Onondaga County in 2015. He was a member of Liverpool Elks Lodge #2348, was an avid gardener, loved to cook and was in several local bowling leagues.  He is predeceased by his parents and a sister, Brooke Barrie.

Surviving to cherish his memory are his wife, Cynthia L. (McElver) Barrie of 40 years; two sons, Brett (Kim) Barrie of Baldwinsville, NY and Kyle Barrie of Baldwinsville; two sisters, Beth Barrie of New Jersey and Jill Barrie of Naperville, IL; two granddaughters, Ellie & Alex Barrie and two nephews, Weston Thomas and Matthew Casson.

Calling hours will be Wednesday, January 22, 2025 from 9:00 am – 11:00 am at the Maurer Funeral Home, 300 Second St., Liverpool, NY with a funeral service to follow at 11:00 am.  Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery, Baldwinsville, NY.

Contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
