Obituary

James "Lefty" Michael Carroll, 81, returned to his Lord on Sunday, October 30, 2022.

Jim had a larger than life personality, and twinkling blue eyes with a bright smile. He was most proud of his faith, his family and his Irish heritage. Jim was a faithful communicant of St. Joseph the Worker Church and loved music of all genres.

Born in the Bronx, Jim grew up playing baseball and running wild in Cooperstown, NY. He graduated from Westmoreland High School and then joined the Marine Corps. Jim was also a graduate of the Utica College of Syracuse University. He taught American History, before becoming a union Iron Worker. A back injury forced him into early retirement, but he used his time well. He loved visiting his mother, driving his children to activities and embarrassing them with loud, crazy music blaring from his car speakers.

Jim was predeceased by his parents, Thomas and Anna Carroll, brothers; Gerald, William and Thomas, sister, Anne, and children, Shawn and Marie.

Surviving are his loving wife of 44 years, Sheila; son, John (Kelly) Carroll, and daughter, Molly (Patrick) Lawton. Jim is also survived by his greatest blessings in life, his grandchildren; Evan, Erin, Anna, Birdie and Seamus, as well as his brothers, Richard and Robert, and many nieces and nephews.

Jim treasured his time with his grandchildren. They brought him immeasurable joy. He attended every birthday party, concert, sporting event and school activity they were involved in until Dementia began to steal his sparkle.

The family would like to thank the staff of Silver Fox Senior Day Center in Baldwinsville, for giving him the gift of stimulating activities and exercise the last year of his life. The family would also like to thank Emily, from the Veteran's Administration, for helping them navigate living with a family member with Dementia.

Services will be private.

Please sign the funeral home on-line guest book for Jim to express your condolences to his family.
