Obituary

James R. DeCoursey, 82, of Baldwinsville, NY passed away on Thursday at Upstate University Hospital. Born and raised in Syracuse, NY, Jim graduated from Eastwood High School, Class of 1960. After school, he served in the U.S. Army during the Cuban Missile Crisis. He was united in marriage to the former Nancy P. Taylor, a blessed union of 58 years together. Jim was employed at Syracuse Piping Company as a Journeyman Sprinkler Fitter for the Sprinkler Fitters Local Union 669. He enjoyed spending the winter months in Vero Beach, Fl. and summertime on Lake Ontario. Jim has resided in Baldwinsville for over 20 years.

A true sports enthusiast, Jim was an avid bowler, rolling a 300 game. He also enjoyed golf and SU sports. Often recruited by the neighborhood kids, Jim like to hang out and played basketball. Most of all he was devoted to his family and a role model to his grandson. He is predeceased by his son-in-law, Timothy Tibbetts, two sisters, Barbara Rosecrans and Gertrude Gamache and four brothers; Jack, Bob, Skip and Charlie.

Surviving are his beloved wife, Nancy P. DeCoursey of Baldwinsville, NY, two daughters, Kelly L. Tibbetts of Liverpool, NY and Kathleen L. (Kevin) Bohemier of Baldwinsville, NY, his grandson, Matthias (Michelle) Rokahr, great-granddaughter, Ellie Mae, numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

Family will greet friends on Saturday, January 11, 2025 from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm at the Maurer Funeral Home, Inc, 300 Second Street, Liverpool, NY 13088 with closing prayers at 2:45 pm.
