James F. Hild, 72, of Denver, CO, died unexpectedly on Monday, October 21, 2024. He was born in Syracuse, NY to the late John and Barbara Hild. Jim was raised and educated in Liverpool. After earning his Master's degree in Geology at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, he relocated to Colorado in 1976.

Jim was a kid at heart and passionate about family, geophysics, traveling, snowboarding, lacrosse and fishing. What a fantastic last year he had; viewing the eclipse in the Adirondacks, Yellowstone and the northern lights, the comet in Puerto Rico. He sailed Lake Superior and visited Boston, Chicago, Sun Valley, Minneapolis and Leadville. Jim enjoyed paddle and snowboarding, hiking, fishing, snorkeling and watching fireworks. He loved spending time with his best friends, aka his family, playing with his nieces and nephews and his canine companions. An avid learner and marvelous teacher, he was always ready to instill all things geological. Jim's quick wit and zest for life will be greatly missed.

Surviving are his wife Elaine, his children; Kate (Brian), Mark (Sage) and Allison (Richard), siblings, Janis (Joe) Hansen and John, many nieces, nephews, great- nieces and great-nephews.

A Memorial service will be held at a future date.
