Switzer, Jr.
April 20, 1953 – March 19, 2025
James A. Switzer, Jr., 71, of Liverpool, NY passed away on Wednesday at the Francis House. He was born in Baltimore, MD, son to the late James and Anna (Hauf) Switzer, Sr. Jim was raised in Fair Haven, NY and graduated from Red Creek High School. He finished his education at SUNY Oswego obtaining his Bachelor's degree in Industrial Technology. In October of 1983, he was united in marriage to the former Jacqueline M. Dalton, a blessed union of 42 years. Jim enjoyed a long career as a carpenter, retiring from the Carpenters Union Local 277. Concurrently throughout the years he also was a substitute teacher for the Liverpool Central School District. A true outdoorsman, Jim loved gardening. He also enjoyed being a softball umpire in the Central New York area and was an avid coin collector. In addition to his parents, Jim is predeceased by his sister, Anne Loudin.
Surviving to cherish his memory are his wife, Jacqueline M. Dalton-Switzer of Liverpool, NY, two sons, Brandon (Kelley) Switzer of Rochester, NY and Ryan Switzer of Lakewood, CO, three grandchildren; Aiden, Melina and Rowan, his brother, Henry Switzer of South Dakota, five sisters; Mary Hall of PA, Barbara Scutt of NY, Ruth (Merlin) Albright of VA, Loretta (Bobby) Tucker of GA, Teresa (Thomas) Polakowski of TX, several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, March 26, 2025 from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at the Maurer Funeral Home Moyers Corners, 3541 State Rt 31, Baldwinsville, NY 13027. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, March 27, 2025 at 10:15 am at the funeral home and 11:00 am in Pope John XXIII Catholic Church, 8290 Soule Road Liverpool, NY 13090. The Rite of Committal and burial will follow in Our Lady of Peace Cemetery, Baldwinsville, NY.
