Joel E. Phelps, 79, of Pennellville, NY passed away on Sunday at St. Joseph's Hospital Health Center. He was born in Syracuse, NY and grew up in Manlius. After graduating from Jamesville-DeWitt High School, Joel entered into the U.S. Air Force serving in the Vietnam War. In 1966, he was united in marriage to the former Julie A. Mashaw, a blessed union of almost 60 years together. Joel enjoyed a life-long career as a Machinist, retiring from Ball Plastics in Baldwinsville, NY. He was an avid bowler and liked fishing and rock collecting. Joel also had a special place in his heart for children. He is predeceased by his parents, Chester and Virginia (Reeves) Phelps.

Surviving are his wife, Julie A. Phelps, his son, Michael D. Phelps, his daughter, Cherie A. (Stewart) Harrington, three granddaughters, Christine, Randi and Megan, three great-grandchildren, his brother, Chester "Skipper" (Ellen) Phelps and his cousin, Raymond (Viola) Phelps.

A calling hour will be held on Saturday, November 1, 2025 from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm at the Maurer Funeral Home Moyers Corners, 3541 State Rte 31 Baldwinsville, NY. Funeral services will be private with burial in Pine Plains Cemetery, Clay, NY.
