John F. Halter, 64, of Liverpool, NY passed away on Thursday, October 17, 2024 at St. Joseph's Hospital Health Center. Born in Buffalo, NY, John came to the Syracuse area as a young boy settling in Liverpool. He graduated from Liverpool High School and worked a variety of jobs in the community throughout the years. Known as "Big John", he was an avid New York Giants fan and enjoyed playing Gin rummy with his family and friends. He is predeceased by his parents, Alan G. Halter and Cynthia (Knoop) Hodgson and his sister, Jacalyn A. Halter.

Surviving are his five brothers; Jeffrey A. Halter, Joseph G. (Sabine) Halter, Robert Hodgson, Michael Hodgson, Tim (Denise) Hodgson, two sisters, Vicki Decoursey and Lori (Steve) Franz, many nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be held on Saturday, November 2, 2024 from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm at the Maurer Funeral Home Moyers Corners, 3541 State Rt 31, Baldwinsville, NY 13027 with funeral services to follow at 12:00 pm. The Rite of Committal and burial will be held graveside on Monday, November 4, 2024 at 11:00 am in Our Lady of Peace Cemetery, Baldwinsville, NY.
